Biography

Professor Kai Yang is a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, IET Fellow and second-level professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He serves as a doctoral supervisor, Director of the Ministry of Education Engineering Center for New Electric Machines and Special Electromagnetic Equipment, and Executive Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education Collaborative Innovation Center for Strong Electromagnetics. He is Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program ‘Direct-Drive Electric Propulsion Technology for Transport Equipment’ and has led five NSFC Key Projects, one National Key R&D Program, two National Major Science and Technology Projects and more than 30 provincial and industry-collaborative projects. His awards include three First Prizes of the Hubei Science and Technology Progress Award and first prizes from the China Electric Power Science and Technology Progress Award and the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award.

Biography

Dr. Larry Coldren is the Fred Kavli Professor Emeritus of Optoelectronics and Sensors in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1972, and after thirteen years of research at Bell Laboratories, he joined UCSB in 1984, later serving as Acting Dean of the College of Engineering (2009–2011). A world-renowned authority in III-V semiconductor optoelectronic devices and photonic integrated circuits (PICs), he has made seminal contributions to vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and widely tunable lasers. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Inventors, and a Fellow of IEEE, Optica and NAI. He has authored or co-authored over a thousand journal and conference papers, published a classic textbook, and holds 63 issued patents.

Biography

Pascal Lorenz received his M.Sc. in 1990 and Ph.D. in 1994 from the University of Nancy, France. Between 1990 and 1995 he was a research engineer at WorldFIP Europe and Alcatel-Alsthom. He has been a professor at the University of Haute-Alsace, France, since 1995. His research interests include quality of service, wireless networks and high-speed networks. He is the author or co-author of three books, three patents and more than 200 international publications. He has held numerous editorial and leadership roles with IEEE publications and IEEE ComSoc, served in senior organizing roles for WCNC, ICC and Globecom, and was an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer during 2013–2014. He is an IEEE Senior Member and an IARIA Fellow.

Biography

Professor Deming Liu is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Optical and Electronic Information, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), and Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Next Generation Internet Access System. He received his master's degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 1984 and his Ph.D. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1999. He has conducted research as a visiting scholar at the University of Duisburg and the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich in Germany, as well as at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
